Kate Clark – Cypress Capital

Where do you work and what is your role?
I’m the Managing Partner of Cypress Capital, a financial and investment services firm.

Tell us a little bit about your background?
I started in the financial services industry in 2007, right out of college. I spent three years on the operations side before deciding to go into practice. After 8 years of working for other firms, I launched my own firm. Cypress Capital was founded in February 2018 with a vision and a feeling of family. I knew I wanted it to be more. More than investments and planning- A sense of home and warmth. Where one doesn’t have to sacrifice sophistication for comfort and the Advisor that meets you for the first time is there with you through every step of the way. I’m a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ Practitioner and hold an Accredited Investment Fiduciary designation.

Where are you from?
Ha! I love this question. All over. I’ve lived in six states and while I was born in Florida and have spent most of my life here, I’ve never had the feeling of “home” until I moved here.

Why Tallahassee?
My husband’s family is from Quincy and he’s 6th generation on his family farm. I’m pretty certain the only time he moved was to go off to school (we met in College at the University of Florida). After College he stated he was moving back home and encouraged me to come too. I found it a hard offer to refuse.

What do you like about Tallahassee?
I love the small-town vibe with big-ish city amenities. The fact we are less than an hour from the coast and are surrounded by some of the most gorgeous greenspaces and natural resources.

What’s on the top of your Tallahassee bucket list?
To traverse all of the surrounding trails (both water and land) in the Big Bend. I’ve started a passion project of empowering women through outdoor experiences. It’s called Bold Betties and we’re doing cool things.

What’s the best part about Access? Why/how did you get involved?
I’ve been involved in Access, through work, since I moved here 12 years ago. It helped me to meet my own circle of friends and for making great networking connections.

Favorite Access event and why?
Power Lunch is my favorite. I never know what my schedule looks like from week to week, but I can always make time for lunch. The program is valuable and informative.

Organizations you’re involved in? (Member, volunteer, leadership position, etc.)
I’ve been a long time Board Member of the Gadsden Arts Center and Museum. A member of the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, Access Tallahassee and Leadership Tallahassee Class 33 (the most social class ever). I’m the Chapter Leader for Bold Betties – Big Bend. I write hiking guides for Outdoor Project and I’m on the Pro Staff team for Riptide Kayaks. I’ve also recently become involved with the Tallahassee Adventure Club a Non-Profit that teaches underprivileged children and young adults how to empower themselves by reconnecting with nature through practical and useful experiences.
