TELL US YOUR TALLAHASSEE STORY:

Work took me out to New Jersey in 2016, where I lived until 2022 and ultimately met my now-wife, Kristin, who was born and raised there. After my sister and I left home in Missouri, my mom—originally from St. Petersburg and an FSU grad—wanted to relocate back to this area. She first landed in Marianna, then moved to Crawfordville, and eventually settled in Tallahassee, a process that unfolded from around 2014 to the present.

As Kristin and I were getting settled into married life and thinking about starting a family, we started looking for somewhere warmer, more affordable, and closer to family. My father-in-law had recently relocated to St. Augustine, so we were essentially deciding between there and Tallahassee. The job piece fell on me, since Kristin worked (and still works) fully remote. I started applying for opportunities in both cities and ended up gaining the most traction in Tallahassee—so we made the move in the summer of 2022!

What is your favorite thing about Tallahassee?

Tough question! I’d have to say the relative affordability of home prices – my wife and I bought during the spring of 2023; a decision we would not have been able to make (responsibly) in North New Jersey.

What is your favorite thing about your career?

It’s a lot like sports. I love the mental challenge of sales—especially insurance sales. It constantly pushes me to practice my skills, stay focused on my mindset, and challenge myself to hit my goals every single day.

What would you say to someone considering a move to Tallahassee?

Unless you have specific hobbies or interests—like needing to be near mountains for skiing or in a larger city for big events—I believe your mindset and what you make of any situation is the most important factor. Like any place I’ve lived, Tallahassee has its pros and cons, but it’s full of great people. At the end of the day, meaningful relationships and friendships are what make life fulfilling, no matter where you are. Certainly run your pros & cons list, but if Tallahassee aligns with your goals and style of living expectations, come on down; we’d love to have you!
