Tallahassee School of Math and Science’s 13th Annual Math Stars Competition

This math competition, open to any 3rd, 4th and 5th graders in Leon county, will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 8:30 a.m. at the Tallahassee School of Math and Science. The primary goal of the Math Stars Competition is to stimulate interest in mathematics among elementary school students, in addition to recognizing outstanding young mathematicians.

Students will participate in fun science demos, speed math and Hidato. The top three “Math Stars” will receive a $100, $75 and $50 gift card, respectively. Trophies will be awarded to the top five contestants, and medals will be prized to those in sixth-10th place.

Tentative schedule of events:
8:30 – 9:20 Arrival/Registration (Refreshments will be provided; You may have a tour in the school with your child after registration.)
9:30 – 10:00 Contest – Round 1
10:00 – 10:10 Break
10:10 – 10:40 Contest – Round 2
10:50 – 12:00 Mini-Events: Smallest Integer Game & Hidato
12:00 – 12:30 Lunch
12:30 Award Ceremony
