Stacey Smith, AJAX Building Corporation
Stacey Smith is a project engineer for AJAX Building Corporation, where she also handles business development. Making connections in the business community is an important part of her job, and she depends on the Access Tallahassee program to help her meet other young professionals. “Access is a great place to meet a lot of people,” she said. “It is a great connector.”
A Tallahassee native, Speer returned to the capital city after earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. “I have a lot of family here and always liked living in Tallahassee,” she said. “It is a good place to have a family and raise kids.”
While she is well aware of Tallahassee’s charm and opportunity, Speer says Access helps those newer to the community discover its hidden treasures. “A lot of people are new to Tallahassee and don’t know what this city offers,” she said. “Getting this information out helps keep younger people in Tallahassee. Access is also focused on expanding awareness of the arts to keep people interested and get the word out about how much there is to do here.”
The social connections Access provides are also helpful, according to Speer. “It is easier to socialize when you are in the same place in life and do the same things,” she said. “It is great to be around others who like the same things and share the same interests.”
