Sean Shaw, Department of Financial Services

Sean Shaw works in the Department of Financial Services as the insurance consumer advocate for the state of Florida. Raised in Tallahassee before leaving town for college and law school, he came home to be with family and start his career. Joining Access was part of his start-up plan. “Access is a great way to network with like-minded people looking to improve our community,” he said. “It also gives me a chance to meet people and hear directly from business and community leaders. The Power Lunches are a great place to hear their takes on where Tallahassee is going because they are the ones doing it. Up-and-comers can learn a lot from them.”

Access plays an important role in a community with a well-established local business people, Shaw said. “The Chamber is not able to focus as much on young professionals in its normal programming, which is why Access is so important,” he said. “We are looking for jobs and getting started in the business community as opposed to being settled and established. We are getting to where Chamber members already are. But as the next generation of leaders, we also have our own voice in shaping our community.”
