I work For Rib Management Inc., which is a registered franchise of Sonny’s Real Pit BBQ. I am the Regional Manager for the Tallahassee market.
Where are you from?
I am from Deland, Florida.
Why did you come to and stay in Tallahassee?
I came to Tallahassee to find a job in the education field, but become successful at operating with the Sonny’s franchise and have therefore stayed.
Please highlight a little about your background and any other information you would like to share.
I first started as a cook with Sonny’s Bar-B-Q while attending the University of Florida in 2006. As I was quickly becoming promoted to management I knew I had a great opportunity to grow as a person and be part of a multi-billion dollar industry. After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management/Economics I went on to receive a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Florida. As I currently operate multiple units, I know this is where I am supposed to be. It is amazing how much training/ continual education occurs at the store level, I have 12 managers and approximately 200 employees that I enjoy teaching on a daily basis.
What do you like about Tallahassee?
In the four years I have been in Tallahassee, I have learned that this is a loyal and honest community.
People really “do what they say they are going to do”, which is very refreshing. Hard work and integrity really do get recognized here in Tallahassee. This is so important in the business world and ultimately speaks to the quality of community we have here.
How and why did you get involved with Access?
I got involved in Access to expand my business network, in doing so I met some really wonderful people. I have made more than business connects as I have found some good friends with the same drive and ambition to succeed as myself.
How has Access helped you grow both personally and professionally?
By attending networking events and doing presentations in front of a more seasoned group of business professionals Access has pushed me out of my comfort zone. I am a better public speaker now and have honed my networking skills.
What has been the best part of your Access experience so far?
The people I have met, both the staff and participants, in the Access group have been great.
Do you have additional comments about Access?
I just hope I can become more involved in the future.
