Where do you work and what is your role?
Donald L. Tucker Civic Center — Director of Sales with Spectra Venue Management (Comcast-Spectacor)
Tell us a little bit about your professional background.
I worked with the Philadelphia 76ers from 2003-2008 in Philadelphia, PA, then moved to Memphis, TN to work in Triple-A Minor League Baseball, with the Memphis Redbirds. Now here in Tallahassee, I am responsible for driving revenue at the Civic Center in the areas of advertising, club/suite & meeting space sales. I act as the face of the facility through my activity in the community.
Where are you from?
Bayville, Long Island – New York
I came to Tallahassee because of the role that was created for me when Florida State University took over ownership of the Civic Center.
What do you like about Tallahassee?
Living in big cities like New York, Philadelphia and Memphis, it’s great to be in a city that only takes 20 mins to get across town (no traffic!!!). I love my neighborhood, the small and large businesses that are established here, as well as the overall pace of the city. Plus, you can’t beat the weather in the winter!!!
What’s on the top of your Tallahassee bucket list?
Wow, great question, never thought of it before. I’ve never been on the field at Doak Campbell Stadium, so I can say that’s something I would like to do.
What’s the best part about Access?
The best part of Access is the comradery you can build with the members you meet. Over the past 3 years I have made some really great friends that are also my clients. Access allows me the chance to meet someone new every time.
Favorite Access event?
Coffee and Connections and misc. networking events. These are both very valuable to me not only for my position with FSU/Spectra, but it allows me to get to reconnect with friends in town.
Organizations you’re involved in?
Leadership Tallahassee Class 35 (17’-18’), Ambassador for the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, Total Resource Campaign (TRC – Chamber) and Comcast-related volunteer opportunities in town (i.e. Comcast Cares Day)
